The Gee wedding

First of all it was a brilliant weekend all over: being invited to the wedding of Luke and Cass ment a lot to me as I have found a really great friend in Luke during the year in Stirling. Then it was great to be there with Max and catch up with Gav, Kev, Collin and Nick on Friday night. And finally I met with 3 of my former flat mates from Stirling Uni – Neil (whom I will see for skiing in Austria with his girlfriend in January), Ben and Craig.

Friday night was great because in the afternoon while waiting for Max and the others to arrive from Killmarnock I was about to stroll along Princess Street and all of a sudden somebody tipped my shoulder. It was Luke who was running into me accidentally on North Bridge. Well, no doubt that we had to have a drink on that so Luke took me to the Vodoo Rooms where we had a couple of drinks.

Then went on to Tempus where we met up with his friends during my last visit in May. Right there, after meeting Lukes parents for the first time, we had to split as he was up for dinner with family and I met the others at the hotel. Right from there we started into a night of drinks and laughter …. And finally also some birthday dinner as it was Max birthday!

Next day in the morning Max and I got all set for the church service where we arrived “on time” with Nicky and Gav. For an Austrian this was just impressive – the ushers, the bride maids, the piper! From the church service we headed back to downtown Edinburgh for the wedding reception which was held in The Royal College of Physicians. First drinks in the impressive library (which was turned into a bar later), then dinner in this big and venerable ballroom. Dinner was followed by music and dance and Ceilidh dancing which was a great and entertaining experience.

Luke and Cass – thanks a lot for having me there – I can not tell you how much I enjoyed sharing this wedding day with you!

Sunday brought an early start as Max was leaving at 10 already. I was then picked up by Neil and after3 years or so it was good to catch up over a cup of coffee. As soon as Ben and Craig – what a great surprise to see them too after all this time – turned up coffee turned into beers and it felt a bit like good old times on Campus!

Unfortunately time passed by quickly and so after lunch in the Malt Shovel Inn (yes Luke, I made my way there again this time…see the picture above) Neil and Ben dropped me off at the airport for my return journey.

It might be quite repetitive here in my blog: it has been a brilliant weekend!

Tune I listen to while writing these lines: Neil Young - Ordinary people
Ordinary people is from the album "Chrome dreams II" which is althrough a brilliant album to listen while travelling!
