In Linz (....beginnts)

When I was in Innsbruck the last time Gregor (yes, my mate from many many nights in the Innkeller) and I had the idea to go to Linz and visit the Lentos museum. A couple of phone calls and a couple of days later things were clear: Gregor and the two girls Michi and Caro who liked the idea as well picked me up on a saturday morning and we drove to Linz.

the linz team: gregor, caro, michi and alex

Like locals we made our way to the riverbank of the danube where we parked our car and met Alex for coffee. The first hard decision of the day had to be taken: Lentos or ArsElectronica. Both great museums but we decided to go to Lentos. This museum is really worth a visit - just see the pictures:

After the museum everybody felt hungry so we strolled down Landstrasse and Alex who is livin in Linz since almost a year made recommendations for lunch. After having taken into account all possibilities we decided against the "Lotos" restaurant (I still believe that they have misspelled the word "Lotus") and had some really good japanese food at a place called Akakiko. Caro had to catch a train in the late afternoon and Alex was invited for dinner ... so the group split and Michi, Gregor and I went for coffee. On the way this funny video was made. And it all began with Gregor asking why there was an outboard motor on one of the bridge piers in the river:

Coffee turned out to be beer in an Irish Pub near the station ... and was followed by a couple of other drinks in Walkers Pub on the main square. As Michi and Gregor had to go home to Innsbruck (next time everybody brings his pyiama and tooth-brush so we can have a good night out in Salzburg ;-) we left at about 11 pm. It was good fun ..though only a quick visit. Well, we have to hang on to that idea of going to Styria in fall!
