Incredible India

Just a couple of days ago I came home from a (business) trip from India. A UN meeting took me to New Delhi and I can tell you that this was a thrilling experience.
When we arrived at the airport we met two dutch participants of the meeting and UN representative and where picked up by the Indian government who were hosting the event. We were packed into a jeep and my luggage was flipped on top of the jeep as the back of the car was already full. Needless to say that they did not use any straps or ropes to make sure my luggage would not fall of .....

Traffic in New Delhi

After an exciting 1,5 hour ride through the strangest traffic I have ever seen (traffic consists of cars, busses, trucks, bicycles, rikshas, people walking, cows and monkeys) we finally reached our hotel. From there we were taken to the meeting venue in the morning and in the evenen to social events. The day before the meeting I was of and so had the chance to take a tour of Delhi which is quite impressive with approx. 17 Million people living there. But it definitely is way different to my previous travel experiences. Poverty is everywhere and standard of living is the lowest I have ever seen. But anyway it was great to gain an insight into this way of life - it was my first visit to Asia!

Don“t ask me what the sign is saying ....
